pupil leaders
At Sheringham, our school council is run by Pupil Leaders. These pupils have the very important role of representing the voice of the pupils at Sheringham, and the committee is made up of a child from each of the classes in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Our pupil leaders are elected through a democratic process - there is always a buzz at the beginning of each academic year as lots of children are keen to actively take part and vote for their class representative! They know the role is important, as it involves making decisions that affect the school as well as the wider community in a very positive way.
In recent years, Pupil Leaders have made an impact in their discussions, feedback and decisions about playtimes, healthy school dinners, anti-bullying week, after-school clubs, keeping our environment clean, and fantastic rewards such as the Dojo Celebration to celebrate excellence across the school.
They also help to organise fundraising events, raising money for charities including MacMillan Cancer Support, Comic and Sports Relief, and more recently the Trussell Trust's Newham Food Bank. Another key role of Pupil Leaders is representing the school, including when greeting visitors such as prospective parents & pupils and welcoming the community at events, such as our summer Community Fair.
