At Sheringham, we strive to ENABLE and INSPIRE children to be happy, healthy and successful in their learning.

 

Early Years is an exciting and significant stage of a child’s development. 

We are passionate about providing language rich and exciting learning experiences that support our children in achieving their full potential. At Sheringham, we place a high value on play based learning. We know that every child is unique and brings their own learning journey to our setting. At Sheringham, we believe that by placing children at the centre of their learning, we are able to capture children’s interests and provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities.  

 

Developing Curiosity- Children are naturally curious about the world around them. We support children in further developing their understanding and curiosity about the world around them through play based learning and carpet sessions. These opportunities support children in asking questions as well as investigating them in the classroom and outside in our garden. 

 

Enabling Environment- At Sheringham we believe that all children should feel a sense of belonging at school. Our environment caters for all children and their needs. We plan exciting play based activities for children to engage in alongside their peers and staff. We value a language rich environment that encourages children to play, explore and think with increasing independence. These learning opportunities are planned around the children’s interests and intend to expand their understanding of the world around them. 

 

Promoting positive relationships and a sense of belonging- Relationships are key in a child developing a sense of belonging. Belonging also plays a key role in supporting children in developing self esteem, friendships and a range of higher functioning thinking skills. At Sheringham we intentionally embed opportunities for children to play and explore with one another, while being supported by staff in developing.

Although our school does not require children to where a school uniform, we do ask that children wear clothing that allows them to play inside and outside safely. 

Children will need:

Comfortable clothes that support them in running, climbing and sitting.

Comfortable shoes that support them in moving around the classroom and outside safely.

Warmer and Cooler Weather:    Warmer clothing during the Winter so that children can continue to play outside.   Hats and breathable clothing during the warmer weather.    Children will also need to bring a water bottle to school each day.
